Commonwealth Lures Firm With $108M AUM

An financial advisory firm with more than $108 million in client assets has joined Commonwealth Financial Network, the firm said.

James F. King, Jr., and his team at the Manalapan, N.J.-based King Financial Network made the move to the privately held independent broker/dealer, Commonwealth Financial said.

King, the president and director of investment planning at King Financial, says he joined Commonwealth for better accessibility to upper management. "I just think openness and accessibility with upper management is just critically important in this transition," King explains. "At this stage in my career, for me, it was important. When you combine that with their accessibility, and service, and technology, and expertise -- I'm not that easily impressed, and here, I'm very impressed."

King says he previously operated under the LPL umbrella with his practice in Morristown, N.J. Before that, he worked for Ascend Financial from 1994 to 2000 and John Hancock from 1992 to 1994, according to FINRA's BrokerCheck.

"I had a great time at LPL, but I think it was just time for my practice," King says. "The tools are just a little better now with the technology and the integration."

Commonwealth previously teamed up with Nelson & Nelson Wealth Management, an LPL-affiliated wealth management firm with roughly $92 million in client assets.
