Mulhern started her career at Merrill 12 years ago, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. Prior to becoming an adviser, Mulhern was a U.S. Army reservist serving as a Russian linguist, according to RBC.

Also making the move with her is Courtney Taylor, a senior registered client associate.

A spokeswoman for Merrill Lynch declined to comment on the departures.

This isn't the first time this year that RBC has recruited a Merrill adviser for the Palm Desert office. In January, the Canadian firm picked up a team that managed $280 million in client assets.

RBC's U.S. wealth management unit currently has $271 billion in client assets and 1,900 financial advisors, according to the firm.
