After 19 years at Merrill, adviser leads his $463M team to Ameriprise

Ameriprise recruited a Merrill Lynch team that oversaw $463 million in client assets, a spokeswoman said.

The team found Ameriprise culture and platform appealing, adviser Stan Leavitt said.

"The firm's robust financial planning capabilities and the client-focused way they’ve implemented changes related to evolving regulations gave us confidence that Ameriprise was the best place for our clients and team," Leavitt said in a statement.

The group is based at Ameriprise's employee branch in Roseville, California.

Though the wirehouse notched impressive wins, Merrill wasn't the only firm to land elite recruits recently.

Leavitt had been at Merrill Lynch for 19 years, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. He started his career at Sentra Securities in 1994.

He is joined by fellow advisers David Pratt and Rachael Morton.

Pratt began his career at Merrill in 2004, per BrokerCheck.

Morton is actually returning to Ameriprise. She started her career at the firm in 2007. She moved to Merrill from Morgan Stanley in 2015.

A Merrill Lynch spokeswoman was unavailable for immediate comment.

Minneapolis-based Ameriprise, which reports earnings later this month, has picked up a steady stream of new recruits so far this year.

Earlier this month, the firm said it enticed a Raymond James adviser who managed $177 million in client assets. Charles White joined Ameriprise's independent side in Camden, Maine.
