AUSTIN, Texas -- Jackson National was honored with the Retirement Income Client Education Award for its “contemporary” and “straightforward” marketing materials at Monday’s annual Retirement Income Industry Association conference.

The contest was judged by the editors of SourceMedia’s Investment Advisor Group, which includes Financial Planning, On Wall Street and Bank Investment Consultant.

The judges said Jackson’s materials had a fresh, contemporary feel; a clear, straightforward writing style that was easy to understand; and smart visuals that were not cluttered.

The judges cited Jackson’s mix of educational sales materials for clients and well-written analysis pieces for advisors. The judges also praised how the materials outlined a number of realistic challenges that clients face in their lifetimes and included good details on the accumulation and distribution phases of retirement savings.

The SourceMedia judges of the Retirement Income Client Education Award also honored Allianz and Principal Financial Group as runners-up.

Allianz was lauded for its comprehensive multimedia package, which the judges said was chock-full of easy-to-read materials for clients and advisors. The judges were particularly impressed by the explanatory materials to help clients understand difficult topics, the quality of the writing and the materials’ strong visual presentation.

The entry from Principal was commended for its clear, thorough content and straightforward approach. The judges said they found that the Principal’s materials offered good interactivity to spur conversations with clients and praised the company’s countdown checklist of tasks and decisions.
