Latin America Smaller Companies Fund announced that it closed its transfer agent books and ceased trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Jan. 22. The fund intends to distribute to stockholders an amount equal to the net asset value of the fund shares as of approximately Feb. 18, 1999. Stock certificates must be surrendered before the liquidation proceeds will be distributed.
