Nvest Subsidiary Will Offer REIT Fund

The Nvest Funds of Boston is planning to offer a fund that invests primarily in real estate investment trusts through one of Nvest's subsidiaries.

The AEW Real Estate Securities Fund will use a value strategy to invest in REITs, according to a registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission May 18. AEW Management and Advisors LP of Boston, the fund's adviser, will manage the fund.

AEW is a subsidiary of the Nvest Cos., which has 18 principal subsidiaries. The AEW Real Estate Securities Fund will be run in a similar style as private accounts AEW has managed, according to the registration statement. The fund's portfolio manager, Matthew Troxell, has been the lead manager of those private accounts since July 1999, according to the statement.
