SEC, DOL to Hold Joint Hearing on Target-Date Funds

The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Labor will hold a joint hearing on June 18 at DOL headquarters examining target-date funds.

The aim of the meeting, details of which will be released in the coming weeks, is to help investors and 401(k) plan sponsors adequately evaluate these investment options, whose holdings, risk exposure and disclosures vary widely.

The agencies expect to call on plan sponsors, investor organizations, asset management firms and academics to testify.
