Alt Funds Kick Off Fall Roadshow

A group of eight competing alternative mutual funds have once again come together to launch a six-city tour that will gather advisors for discussions of alternative strategies and tips on how to build an alternative fund portfolio.

The Forum tour kicks off on Sept. 25 in Overland Park, Kan., and continues on to stops in Los Angeles on Sept. 27; Atlanta on Oct. 9; Miami on Oct. 11; Stamford, Conn. on Oct. 23 and ending in Boston on Oct. 25.

The Fall Forum follows the Spring 2012 Forum, which toured seven cities, and featured gatherings of almost 750 financial advisors. The Alternative Mutual Funds Forum, which was first launched in 2011 when it toured nine cities, was conceived by Forward Management, a San Francisco-based money manager with $5.4 billion in assets under management. Clay Smudsky, Head of Distribution at Forward, will act as host at the events.

Each Forum stop will allow advisors access to investment managers and research analysts who will explain their alternative investment philosophies and the strategies behind different types of alternative funds. Scheduled sessions include using long/short strategies for equities, debt and commodities; utilizing managed futures; and implementing a global macro/multi-strategy.

Besides Forward, the partnering firms hosting the 2012 tour include Altegris, Bandon Capital Management, Driehaus Capital Management, Eaton Vance Investment Management, J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Ramius. Also, Montage will be featured only at the event in Overland Park.
