$105M UBS adviser jumps to Stifel

Stifel recruited a UBS adviser who oversaw $105 million in client assets, the firm announced.

Donna Kane joined the regional firm's office in Stockton, California.

"The decision [to switch firms] was an easy one," she says.

In making the move, Kane cited the ease of access to resources and management as well as Stifel's corporate environment, which she says has the "feel of a local business."

"The responsiveness of the home office, for me, was unparalleled," Kane says.

Kane, who switched firms last week, has been an adviser since 2000, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. She started her career at A.G. Edwards and moved to UBS in 2008, after A.G. Edwards was acquired by Wachovia.

A UBS spokeswoman was not available for immediate comment on Kane's departure.

Stifel has been attempting to recruit more wirehouse advisers. Earlier this month, the firm said it hired a father-son team, also from UBS, in Janesville, Wisconsin. The duo managed more than $100 million client assets, according to Stifel.

St. Louis-based Stifel also picked up two Raymond James advisers that oversaw $160 million in assets. They joined the firm in Atlanta.

Stifel had 2,299 advisers at the end of the first quarter, according to its earnings report.
