Suzanne LaTour joined the firm's employee channel in San Diego earlier this month. She generated about $850,000 in revenue while at Merrill, according to Raymond James.

LaTour said in a statement that she was drawn to Raymond James for its culture, and was impressed by a visit to the firm's headquarters in St. Petersburg.

LaTour is an industry veteran, having begun her financial services career in 1988, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. She had been with Merrill since 2009. Previously, she worked at Morgan Stanley.

She reports to David Richman, branch manager for the San Diego complex of Raymond James.

A Merrill spokeswoman was unavailable for immediate comment.

The announcement of the new hire comes the same week that Raymond James unveiled plans to offer its planners a robo adviser. The service, which will launch later this year, will not be offered directly to clients, and will instead be used at the discretion of the adviser.
